Bumper Stickers in Fort Collins

Bumper stickers are quite common in the United States and are used by car owners to represent a point of view or an achievement which could be athletic, religious or even humorous. The fact that many people proudly stick bumper stickers to their cars can be used to gain insight into someone’s personality or their thoughts. This allows us to gauge the likes and dislikes or the trend of thought of a group of individuals or a community.
When walking through the parking lots at the police station or the lot at Parmelee Hall, I noticed a good amount of diversity present in the choice of bumper stickers on cars. Other than the abundant ‘CSU Rams’ and ‘I love Colorado’ stickers, I saw quite a number of political and student organization related stickers. As the elections are coming up, a lot of people are using bumper stickers as a way to express their points to view. On the other hand, some individuals are using stickers as a means to mock a particular candidate by using sarcasm. This is evidence of the diversity of opinion present on campus as different people from different cultures gather to study in one institution.
Looking at other parts of the city, I saw religious and family oriented stickers’ as well. Going to the downtown area at night, a large number of people can be seen out and about. This can be seen as a perfect chance to see what different people choose to show off on their cars. As Fort Collins is a popular tourist city, a lot of people visit every day. Going through parking lots in downtown gave me a view of the life of the families that have lived here for a significant amount of time and are a part of the amazing Fort Collins community. I saw a large number of athletic stickers as well as stickers of several other states along with cars of different plates. This shows that the people of Fort Collins can be seen as outgoing and athletic who are also fond of travelling

In conclusion, the bumper stickers of each community represent how they view the world and we can use these stickers as windows into other people’s minds.
